A feature reporter for the morning show, I focused on fun, energetic stories that not only make a difference for the community, but entertain a curious audience.

- Listen. I’ve got ten years in broadcast. Did I take a break? Yep. Sure did. I needed it. Did it help me transform into a more authentic storyteller? It sure did.

Afternoon Drive Radio Show Host, The Julie Baker Show, Midwest Family Broadcasting KOSP Springfield MO AUG 2021- Current
-With an already growing social media presence, the program director of KOSP reached out one day. He had a pitch- KOSP needed a morning show with me in mind as the host. Had I done radio before? Sort of. I had filled in a few times with various radio stations in previous years. In January of 2022, The Julie Baker Show launched with ratings to prove success. Details on the work can be found to the left of this.

Sunday Morning Anchor, Breaking News Anchor through the week, Reporter, fill in Traffic Anchor.

-A skilled writer who produced multiple human interest and consumer driven pieces per week
-Dissected large, ongoing breaking news stories into a comprehendible pieces of information for a viewing audience
-Conducted timely, important interviews with prominent members of the community, delivering necessary information with precision and accuracy.
-Managed on going breaking news and live cuts which required rapid comprehension and confirmation while utilizing a variety of resources to better serve our audience.
-Strategize social media approaches in order to serve a wider audience, developing the social media short show “The 411”.
Key notes:
-Led team coverage during Hurricane Florence from some of the hardest hit areas along the North Carolina coast, starting in New Bern.

Our coverage eventually led us to the bridge of Atlantic Beach- an island that had evacuated residents. Before residents were allowed to return to their homes, the fire chief took us on an exclusive live two hour tour of the damages. During our coverage, we were able to answer social media questions from folks curious about their homes, driving from street to street. This received heavy accolades from the community, evening prompting our General Manager to write a personalize email that said “Julie, If there was a Pulitzer for broadcast, you would have just won one.”

-Promoted to Breaking News Anchor Monday through Thursday while maintaining Sunday morning anchor duties.

-Honored with the Good Samaritan Award by the American Rottweiler Club

Key Notes:
-Received first Emmy Nomination for my investigative work revolving around domestic violence spikes that had plagued a nearby small town. Resourcefully, I worked with a photographer who herself had been a victim. Through her advocacy we were able to give voice to others who had endured abuse.

A master at smiling and pointing at things, shiny dresses and big waves were key. From modeling games, products, and prizes as announced to engaging with the crowd after the show, modeling required mass people interaction and ability the ability to be precise.
